Lunch With Dr. O'dell Owens

Item Category: Unique Experience

How about a lunch date with Dr. O'dell Owens? Here is a man that started from humble beginnings and against all odds carved out a niche in Cincinnati, and has really left his stamp on our Great Queen city. Just to give you a little history on this man. He attended Antioch in the late 60s, after he went to Yale for medical school, received a M.D. degree, while there, simultaneously, in his spare time, he received a Master's Degree in Public Health. After graduation, he did a stint at Harvard Medical School teaching and then decided to return to Cincinnati to open a private practice. Dr. Owens established the first division of reproductive endocrinology in the department of OB/GYN at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. During his four years there, he established an in-vitro fertilization program and achieved Cincinnati's first successful conception and delivery. As many know, being a baby doctor is a full-time job and opting to spend more time at home with his family, he chose to get out of the 24-hour a day job, and ran for the Coroner's Office in Hamilton County, which he won with the most votes of any Coroner in Hamilton County history. He changed the fabric of the coroner's office. However, his passion was in education. Hence, the Presidency at Cincinnati State, and a chance to really help students and put Cincinnati State on the map! Dr. Owens as you can see from this snapshot of his resume is not only an interesting and ambitious person, but one that is truly inspiring. A lunch with him would be a real treat!  Donor value is $150.
