"Nasturtiums & Artichokes" Painting

Item Category: Art

Local artist, Mary Mark’s unique and award winning style has made her work popular throughout the U.S. and abroad.  Her work is sometimes referred to as Matisse-like because of her vivid palette and somewhat funky perspective.  Surfaces are layered on top of one another, juxtaposing pattern on pattern for a high energy busy effect.

This framed oil pastel which is on gesso primed Arches paper, highlights layers of oil pastel on a drawn image. The outside dimensions are 37 inches x 30 inches including a 2 ½ inch simple wood frame.  As with many of Mary Mark’s pastels, this piece is a profusion of life’s accouterments and fabrics, its frenzied assortment of brilliant colors compose an image that speaks of tranquility and reflection.

This piece would put the finishing touch on any room.
